Customer Reviews

According to the label this should give 2 weeks of residual effectiveness. I know that is very optimistic but i would have hoped for at least a couple of days. I bought the product specifically for the cedar and clove oils and wanted to see how those ingredients would work for a flea infestation on my cat. I currently give him advantage II (which also doesn't seem to work as advertised with him and I need to re-apply once a week or so). In any case, I gave him his bath, and was hoping to use this repellant for the 48 hours or so i have to wait before I can re-apply the Advantage. So I gave him his bath with a Spot-on Flea Treatment friendly shampoo and then sprayed him down. One thing I do not like about this spray at all is the soapiness from the Sodium Laureth Sulfate (first ingredient). It got his coat soapy but seemed to dry pretty quickly. It did have a strong cedar/clove scent originally and he didn't mind it at all. I don't know if it killed any fleas at that point, since I had pretty much washed them all off of him. I also sprayed down my bed (since that's where he likes to sleep). I was hoping for 48 hours of protection, but no dice. By the next morning, I went to check him, and ran a flea comb through his scruff, and found MORE fleas than we have seen in a while. By the afternoon I decided to dose him with the Advantage II again. I did spray him down again with this procudt after that and sprayed directly on the fleas I found on the bedspread where he had been lying. It killed those on contact.
I am giving this product 2 stars, because I will be using the ingredients in this product again as a repellant/direct insecticide - with the caveat that I will have to spray frequently and just use it as part of my flea-eradication regimen, but this isn't the right product for me. The soapiness is no good and it stained my duvet cover (it will wash out though) and it doesn't do what the label claims it will do (kill fleas and flea eggs for up to 2 weeks). Oh and it smells nice.

This product is great, especially when used with the flea shampoo for cats, also by this same brand. The scent is the same as the shampoo, and this flea spray is mild enough to where, if your cat is like mine, and decides he/she will lick his/her fur right after you put this product on, it will not cause your cat to get sick, like many other products similar to this, will do. Also, the product dries perfectly after a little bit of towel drying, first. Other products I've tried, have left the cat's fur looking and feeling greasy and matted up... I really like this one.
