Customer Reviews
Now I'm not sure I should be supporting this company because I still have other questions about their product but most of the bad reviews here seem to be because of a misunderstanding of how the product works. I can't say I'm surprised since the packaging isn't very clear about how it works (which really isn't good). When I bought the product the first thing I did was look up the active ingredient "Methoprene." Because I was really curious how this was so much cheaper than Advantage. One look on wikipedia explains exactly how this product is supposed to work. Methoprene is a juvenile hormone that prevents fleas from gaining fertility. Which means it doesn't kill fleas, it doesn't kill eggs, it doesn't actually do anything except put a break in the fleas reproduction if you catch them before they are already fertile. So from my understanding this product really shouldn't be used on a heavily infested cat at all, because it isn't going to get rid of the fleas on them and it isn't going to kill the eggs they've already laid. It isn't even going to prevent those fleas from laying more eggs, it's just going to prevent young fleas from getting to the point where they can lay fertile eggs. So use this product on your cat before you can ever see any fleas on them, after that, you need something better. You waited too long for this product to work in a reasonable amount of time or work effectively.
I have been using this product on my cat for 4 months, since the vet neutered him and mentioned that he saw a couple fleas on him. After examining him I saw no fleas whatsoever so I was doubtful there even were fleas on him, but I knew it was time for them to start so I soon after started using this, since then we have never seen any fleas on him, and it has effectively worked on him as a PREVENTION of becoming heavily infested with fleas. Once you see fleas on them it's usually too late for a PREVENTION type of flea system.
I washed the thirteen month old kitten twice. Once with the flea, and tick shampoo from Hartz. Which removed most of the fleas. I then used this product and put it on his neck after he was damp. The moment he was completely dry the next day later he was scratching his head again, and I saw baby fleas there about two days after that. This basically didn't work, and wasted my time. He was also treated for ear mites, and worms. So those were not the cause of him scratching pretty plain to see fleas still on him. I wouldn't even give this one star.
