I remember back in the old days before these flea control products existed that I would line up my 3 or 4 cats to bathe them. It would take a few days for the scratches on my arms and back to heal, and by then, the fleas had already returned. Then came Advantage, and it took 2 or 3 months for the flea cycle to be broken, but I have never seen a flea in my house again.
My cats are totally indoor cats and I understand that outdoor cats may need a more frequent application than once a month.

I have 2 cats now and have never had to deal with fleas until after I adopted a rescue kitten. At first I didn't notice a thing until I started waking up with flea bites and noticed the fleas attached to my leg. Sure enough, I checked both cats and they had fleas.
I first tried the natural herbal flea spray by NaturVet but it didn't appear to deter the little miscreants at all. I then proceeded to use sergeants cat collars to no prevail and after researching the various flea medications online and finding how dangerous or completely useless some of the generics were I decided to try advantage because of all the great reviews.
Before trying the medication I took preventive measures by covering the floor with borax (sweeping it into the carpets), covering the floors with salt, and spraying the fabrics with watered down dawn. I left the borax sit and salt sit for a whole week. After this routine I put advantage on both cats and have not seen a flea since. For those who complain about it not working for a full month it does specify that for extreme flea infestations you may need to apply this every 7 days until the fleas lighten up enough that you only have to apply every month. Fleas can hide and they can take a few months to hatch depending upon the weather. The hotter it is, the more likely they will hatch faster.
Advantage killed the fleas within the first 12 hours and it has been a full month with no returns. I have to say I am very satisfied with Advantage and will continue to use this brand.
